Tarek El Moussa is best known as the co-host of the hit HGTV show Flip or Flop alongside his ex-wife Christina Anstead (formerly El Moussa, now Christina Hall).

As an Orange County real estate agent and house flipper, Moussa has built up his wealth by buying distressed properties, renovating them, and selling them for a profit.

Even after his split from Hall, he has continued flipping houses, working in real estate, and starring solo on his own HGTV show, Flipping 101.

With his successful career in television and real estate dealings, he has amassed an impressive net worth – which this article will delve into his current projects and what he’s up to now.

Tarek El Moussa’s net worth and career

With a net worth of $15 million, Moussa has done exceptionally well in the real estate and TV world. Most of his wealth has come from flipping houses and reselling properties for profit over the years.

Even earlier in his career, after buying his first investment property in Santa Ana for $115,000 with partners and selling for $34,000 more, he showed a knack for fixing distressed homes and making money on them.

Over the years, he grew his flipping business with his now ex-wife, Hall. They even expanded into other states like Arizona and Nevada. However, his career took off when HGTV called after seeing a sizzle reel he and Hall had put together.

Their show Flip or Flop premiered in 2013 and became a massive hit over ten seasons. The show provided great exposure for Moussa’s real estate business and earned him a steady TV salary during its run.

Even after his divorce, Moussa has continued finding success on his show, Flipping 101, which mentors new house flippers. He is still actively flipping and selling million-dollar properties in California through his company, The El Moussa Group.

With his TV fame, bestselling books, and successful flipping career still going strong, his net worth will grow as he establishes himself as a real estate expert.

Tarek El Moussa’s net worth comparison with ex-wife Christina Hall

When married, Moussa and Hall built up considerable wealth from their hit HGTV show Flip or Flop, earning as much as $600K per season.

However, even though the ex-spouses shared equal Flip or Flop salaries, Hall has emerged with a higher net worth post-divorce – $25 million versus Moussa’s $15 million.

Several factors contribute to Hall’s having the edge financially since their split. For one, she swiftly spun off two new HGTV series – Christina on the Coast and Christina in the Country. She has been banking lucrative salaries from these popular shows for years now.

Comparatively, Moussa only recently launched his solo endeavor, Flipping 101, in 2021 after Flip or Flop ended. So, he has had less time to accrue wealth just from television paychecks.

Hall has also created side income beyond TV through business pursuits like her home flooring line, Christina Collection Flooring. She also plans to leverage her brand into the home decor space.

Her entrepreneurial efforts are padding her pockets versus Moussa still making money predominately through house flipping and TV hosting duties.

Hall’s continual stream of TV roles and brand expansion has accelerated her net worth growth post-divorce from the flip-or-flop days.

Moussa undoubtedly enjoys healthy finances through real estate. However, he likely needs more dedicated small screen time and supplementary income pipelines to catch up to his ex-wife’s higher financial status.

Tarek El Moussa revealed that he lived in a halfway house after his divorce

In a raw admission on a recent podcast, Moussa opened up about going to a “dark place” after his split from ex-wife Hall in 2016.

He shockingly shared that during that challenging transitional period, he resided at a halfway house because he didn’t trust himself to be alone.

According to him, he was so distraught about “losing everything overnight” from the collapse of his marriage that he felt he needed 24-hour care and support. The sudden divorce after seven years of marriage deeply affected him and his mental health.

Moussa went as far as to say he wasn’t the “best husband” while married to Hall, hinting at personal issues he was dealing with. Though he didn’t go into detail, the experience was traumatizing for Moussa as his life crumbled around him for a period there.

It took soul-searching and likely professional treatment during his stay in the halfway house for him to recover and rebuild.

Now over six years removed from the divorce, Moussa is in a better place – re-married with a newborn son and on a hit HGTV show with his wife, Heather Rae Young.

But the pain of his first marriage dissolving and the extreme measures he took to cope still lingers, with these comments providing rare insight into Moussa’s troubled frame of mind when his relationship with Hall reached its breaking point.

Tarek El Moussa’s latest show ‘The Flipping El Moussas’

As one door closed with the ending of Flip or Flop after ten seasons, a new one opened up for Moussa and their wife, Young, in the form of their latest HGTV showThe Flipping El Moussas.

Premiering March 2023, the show offers viewers a glimpse into the next chapter of Moussa’s real estate and TV career as he starts fresh with Young.

Centered on their shared passion for properties, The Flipping El Moussas follows the couple as they take risks renovating new “crazier” houses to flip in Southern California.

The couple promises plenty of behind-the-scenes action – from beautiful designs to mistakes made to laughs and joy experienced in between.

The series will also shed light on their home life, balancing busy careers while raising three kids, including their newborn son Tristan. After the success of season one, HGTV quickly renewed the show for an expanded 14-episode second season coming in early 2024.

With more screen time, houses being flipped, and their family and relationship highlighted, The Flipping El Moussas offers fans more of what they love about Moussa as he begins a new professional and personal phase away from his ex-wife.
