Jena Malone’s claims of being sexually assaulted

In a recent Instagram post, actress Malone opened up about being sexually assaulted by someone she had worked with while filming The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 in 2015.

She revealed that her time working on the film’s climax in Paris was extremely difficult for her, as she was simultaneously going through a bad breakup and dealing with the aftermath of sexual assault by a colleague.

Malone stated that despite the trauma surrounding the circumstances, she was still grateful for the Hunger Games film project, the bonds she formed with her co-stars, and the opportunity to play her character, Johanna Mason.

However, she has struggled to separate those positive memories from the painful assault tied to that period.

While Malone did not name her abuser directly, she shared that she has worked hard in the years since to heal and find peace through restorative justice practices. This has involved making amends with her violator as well as herself.

She admitted it’s been challenging to talk about her involvement with The Hunger Games without reliving her trauma. However, she now feels ready to reclaim the joy and accomplishments of the film series.

By courageously sharing her story as a sexual assault survivor, Malone illustrated that healing is often a nonlinear process but one she continues to move through with grace.

Jena Malone on ‘Rebel Moon’

In the teaser trailer for Zack Snyder’s upcoming sci-fi epic Rebel Moon, Jena Malone makes a brief but striking appearance as a dangerous alien warrior named Harmada.

Described as a “lethal spider humanoid,” Harmada is shown terrorizing a mining village, using spider-like appendages and agility for attack.

Harmada generates an “unsettling” mix of feelings, as her alien design juxtaposed with somewhat human features creates a creepy and unnerving visual.

As one of the only major Rebel Moon characters kept secret up until the teaser trailer, Malone’s Harmada was an intriguing reveal that left viewers curious about her villainous role in the overall story.

While plot details remain limited, it seems Malone will bring an intense, horror-tinged presence to Rebel Moon as this threatening spider warrior.

As one of Snyder’s frequent actor collaborators, Malone is likely to deliver a memorably eerie performance through the alien Harmada.

The morphed human-arachnid hybrid design for her antagonist character also displays visually striking and original world-building.

Her creepy Harmada is already a highlight from the Rebel Moon movie released in theatres on December 15, providing some fresh sci-fi ideas mixed with a dose of horror.

It will be exciting to see her acting choices breathe life into this alien warrior role when Rebel Moon hits Netflix on December 21.
