Jerome Flynn is an acclaimed English actor and singer best known for his roles in hit shows like Game of Thrones, Ripper Street, and the recent 1923.

With a career of over 30 years on stage and screen, he has showcased his versatility and talent across various genres, from period dramas to fantasy epics.

Having starred in some of the most popular shows of the past decade, Flynn has amassed an impressive net worth from his acting work and income from his brief music career.

Today, we look closely at Flynn’s most notable roles and career highlights that have contributed to his current finances and life as a successful British actor.

Jerome Flynn’s net worth and career

JFlynn has accumulated an impressive net worth of $3 million through his prolific and varied acting career spanning over 30 years. He first gained recognition in the UK in the early 1990s for his role as Corporal Paddy Garvey in the hit show Soldier Soldier

However, his net worth significantly increased after he teamed up with co-star Robson Green to release “Unchained Melody,” which became the best-selling single in 1995 and sold nearly 2 million copies.

The musical duo Robson & Jerome achieved two more #1 hits and chart-topping albums, earning Flynn his first big payday. Transitioning into acting in the late 90s, Flynn starred in shows like Ain’t Misbehavin’ and Badger and films like Best and Jus’ Like That.

After semi-retiring in the mid-2000s, he returned to prominence when he landed the career-defining role of sellsword Bronn in HBO’s smash hit fantasy series Game of Thrones in 2010.

As one of the show’s most popular characters over 8 seasons, he likely earned over $100,000 per episode, given the show’s massive budget. Residual payments from Thrones syndication and streaming on HBO Max continue to pad his bank account years later.

More recently, he has starred as Detective Inspector Edmund Reid in the BBC crime drama Ripper Street. He took on roles in Black Mirror and high-profile series like Amazon’s The Dark Tower adaptation and the Yellowstone origin story 1923.

Now entering his 60s, he is as prolific as ever while maintaining an impressive net worth built on a remarkably resilient career.

Jerome Flynn’s most notable role as Bronn in ‘Game of Thrones’

Bronn, played masterfully by Flynn, is undoubtedly one of the most popular and beloved characters from HBO’s epic fantasy series Game of Thrones.

Introduced in season 1 as a skilled sellsword who champions Tyrion Lannister in his trial by combat, Bronn quickly became a standout thanks to Flynn’s witty and mischievous performance.

Bronn was an engaging character because of his pragmatic, amoral philosophy and self-serving nature, which often resulted in dry quips and black humor.

As an evil mercenary, he makes no apologies for his love of gold and lack of honor that knights claim to abide by. This makes for an exciting relationship with the noble Tyrion, who keeps Bronn as his right-hand man and eventual personal bodyguard.

Over 8 seasons, Bronn’s fortunes rise considerably thanks to his lethal fighting skills and occasional moments of heroism.

Flynn is perfectly cast as the quick and dangerous warrior who manages to climb the social ladder despite his low birth, garnering well-earned fame during the Battle of Blackwater. Bronn’s blended charisma and lethality leave viewers constantly investing in his next moves.

By the end, the once landless sellsword secures himself the wealthy Highgarden castle and Lord Paramount’s title due to his alignment with the winning side.

Flynn steals nearly every scene he is in as the fan-favorite antihero survivor whose wit and combat prowess make him an icon of the show. Audiences love an underdog, and the scheming, opportunistic Bronn fits the bill perfectly.

Jerome Flynn comes from a family of artists

Flynn comes from a lineage of performers and artists. Born in 1963 to actor and singer Eric Flynn and drama teacher Fern Flynn, talent runs in his blood.

His father enjoyed success as an actor across stage and screens with a singing career to boot. Meanwhile, his mother’s career as a drama teacher cultivated an early appreciation for the arts.

With the performing bug ingrained early on, it’s no surprise Flynn pursued acting himself, following in his father’s footsteps. But he wasn’t the only one.

His brother, Daniel Flynn, also became a professional actor in various television shows. Additionally, Jerome has a half-brother named Johnny Flynn, who was born in his father’s second marriage.

The multi-talented Johnny is an accomplished actor, musician, and songwriter who fronts his band, Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit. The creative gifts flowed down the Flynn family tree to Jerome and his siblings.

Even Flynn’s half-sister, Lillie Flynn, caught the acting bug, earning a degree in theater arts in 2007.

With so many artists and performers related by blood, it was almost inevitable that Flynn would hone his acting chops from an early age after growing up immersed in singing, drama, and the magic of entertainment, thanks to his family of artists.

Jerome Flynn joined the protestants to support the co-founder of Extinction Rebellion

Flynn openly supported Extinction Rebellion co-founder Dr. Gail Bradbrook by joining eco-protesters outside the court, where she was sentenced on December 17, 2023.

He has previously participated in Extinction Rebellion demonstrations and considers Bradbrook a friend, so he was present to stand in solidarity with her cause.

Flynn told the press gathered at the sentencing, “I’m here to support my friend Gail because I’m proud of her and what she and all of these women are standing up for.”

“There’s a crime at the heart of the case, and it is not Gail smashing up this window; it’s the plan that HS2 was and still is in part, which is a crime against nature, a crime against our children and our futures.”

His remarks indicate strong alignment with Extinction Rebellion’s environmental activism efforts and frustration with the government’s HS2 high-speed rail project, which the movement sees as destructive to nature.

By traveling to the sentencing and vocally supporting Bradbrook, Flynn used his celebrity platform to draw further attention to these issues. It traces his environmental advocacy back years, aligned with his past spiritual searching that once led him to live an ascetic lifestyle.

Flynn’s presence at the court demonstrates his commitment to the extremist faction of the climate movement and his desire to amplify their message. Despite reputational risks, he stuck by his friend in her fight for the planet.
