However, their fiery romance soon ignites violence and pulls them into the criminal dealings of Lou’s menacing father, played by Ed Harris. 

The trailer shows Lou and Jackie disposing of a corpse together and engaging in a tense shoot-out, suggesting Lou’s father’s illicit activities put the women in grave danger.

With its electric lead performances, bloody violence, and high-stakes crime drama, Love Lies Bleeding looks to be a real departure for Stewart from some of her recent acclaimed roles like Spencer’s Princess Diana. 

Re-teaming with the director of the intense horror film Saint Maud, she is sure to deliver another gripping, transfixing performance as she plunges into the depths of a toxic, doomed romance.

Set to premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival before a spring 2024 release from A24, expectations are high for Stewart’s gritty new indie thriller.
