Maria Sten has built an impressive career in the entertainment industry across multiple mediums. With her diverse cultural background spanning Danish, Swedish, and Congolese heritage, she brings a unique perspective to every role she inhabits.

Her breakout performance in the fourth installment of Channel Zero raised her global profile and earning potential in recent years. Given her rising fame and success, many fans have become curious about her current financial standing and total assets.

This article will provide an inside look into Sten’s net worth, detailing her income sources to date. Though still early in her career, she has already begun to establish herself financially thanks to her prolific work across TV and film.

Maria Sten’s net worth and multifaceted career

As of 2023, Sten has an estimated net worth of $3 million. While still early in her entertainment career, she has quickly accumulated impressive assets thanks to her continuous work across various mediums.

Her versatility has been key in allowing her to build her wealth. Though she started as a dancer, she always aspired to be an actor.

She brings the discipline learned from dance into all her acting work, insisting on performing most stunts herself. She also has athletic abilities from childhood, like gymnastics, soccer, and horseback riding, that lend well to the physical demands of roles.

Before focusing on acting, Sten’s career took off when she was crowned Miss Denmark in 2008 at just 18 years old. This enabled her to compete at the prestigious Miss Universe pageant, giving her first major exposure to international audiences.

After coming home, she competed on the talent show Miss Supertalent World in 2011, placing in the top 7 out of 50 women.

Transitioning into acting, Sten secured the lead part of Jillian Hope Hodgson in Channel Zero’s fourth season titled The Dream Door, which significantly boosted her fame and financial opportunities in recent years.

She quickly followed up this horror genre role with the DC series Swamp Thing alongside Crystal Reed.

Demonstrating versatility, she then wrote multiple episodes for the David E. Kelley show Big Sky while also producing and directing her short film Wild Things Run Free

Her writing skills were acknowledged when The Tracking Board put her on their coveted Young & Hungry List for top new writing talent in 2018. Most recently, she has starred as Frances Neagley in Amazon Prime’s hit new series Reacher.

With continuous acting, writing, and creative roles on the horizon, her net worth is expected to steadily rise thanks to her clearly multifaceted talents and work ethic spanning areas like stunt work, production, and acting across both TV and film.

Maria Sten’s venture into the DC Universe

In 2019, Sten entered the superhero genre by joining the cast of Swamp Thing, a new live-action streaming series based on the iconic DC character. She was announced as a series regular opposite lead actress Crystal Reed, who plays Abby Arcane.

The 10-episode first season premiered on DC Universe, the digital subscription platform for DC content. Swamp Thing follows Abby Arcane, a CDC doctor investigating a deadly swamp virus in a small Louisiana town.

She soon discovers the Swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets, especially when chilling supernatural horrors emerge from within the marsh.

The series balances drama, horror, and superhero themes based on the Swamp Thing character first created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson in the 1970s. Sten plays the vital supporting role of Liz Tremayne, Arcane’s close childhood friend.

Liz splits her time between reporting for the local Haven Parish paper and bartending at her aging father’s roadhouse bar.

Despite her no-nonsense attitude, she shows a deep compassion for her friends as she strives to expose the dangerous secrets threatening her hometown.

While initial reviews were highly positive, especially for the impressive swamp monster effects, Swamp Thing was suddenly canceled shortly after the premiere despite a full 10-episode season already completed.

The news came as a shock, but DC Universe continued releasing the remaining episodes. For Sten, joining Swamp Thing marked her first major acting role in an American TV series after mainly working in small film and TV until that point.

Starring in a prestigious DC Universe/Warner Bros. production undoubtedly expanded her profile.

Unfortunately, the early cancellation prevented long-term exposure, but the series showcased Sten’s talents to wider mainstream audiences in the competitive superhero genre.

Maria Sten on ‘Reacher’

Sten has seen her career take off thanks to her role as Frances Neagley in the hit Amazon Prime series Reacher

Based on Lee Child’s bestselling book series, ‘Reacher’ stars Alan Ritchson in the title role as a former military policeman who wanders the country and often encounters criminals and killers.

In the series, Sten’s character, Frances Neagley, is one of Reacher’s trusted former colleagues and closest friends from his military days.

She is described as a capable, no-nonsense woman who could be considered a female counterpart to Reacher, which Sten captures compellingly on screen.

As one of the few characters brought over from the books, Neagley is a major resource and support for Reacher when trouble arises. Sten reveals that landing the career-changing role prompted her to read all the Reacher books that Neagley appears in.

She aimed to deeply understand her character’s history with Reacher, along with personality traits like not liking to be touched. She also put extensive physical preparation into the role, as Neagley possesses combat and weapons expertise and does her stunts.

This mirrors lead actor Ritchson, who actually broke bones while filming intense, realistic fight scenes.

With ‘Reacher’ becoming a surprise smash hit for Amazon Prime Video, Maria Sten expresses excitement but also initial shock, as she has mainly been in projects that never went anywhere before.

She calls getting to explore further Neagley and Reacher’s platonic friendship in Season 2 a highlight since it shows a rare non-romantic bond between a man and woman.

After years of acting, Sten’s canny embodiment of the tough, enigmatic Frances Neagley seems certain to make her a more prominent name in Hollywood.
