After being drafted 17th overall by the Brooklyn Nets in 2019, Walker’s rights were quickly traded to the Atlanta Hawks and then to the New Orleans Pelicans. 

He made his NBA debut with the Pelicans in October 2019 and showed flashes of promise as a rookie, including scoring a career-high 27 points against the Heat. 

He took on an increased role in his second season with New Orleans in 2020-21, making 31 starts and averaging over 10 points per game. His breakout performance came in January 2021 when he erupted for 37 points starting against the LA Clippers.
