In 2018, he purchased Egypt’s Pyramids Football Club, which competes in the Egyptian Premier League. His stint as owner of the club lasted until 2019. That same year, Alalshikh took over ownership of Spanish club UD Almería. 

He invested significant funds into Almería to return the club to La Liga, Spain’s top football division. He also appointed Mohamed El Assy as Almería’s general director to oversee day-to-day operations.

Turki Alalshikh refuses to stage ‘Youtuber Fights’

Alalshikh has been instrumental in bringing top-level professional boxing bouts to Saudi Arabia. But in a recent interview, he clarified that he has little desire to host matches involving YouTube or social media celebrities.

When asked if famous YouTube boxers like KSI would receive an invitation to fight in Saudi Arabia, Alalshikh definitively stated, “We don’t want any YouTuber to fight again.” 

He explained that he focuses solely on legitimate professional fighters at the highest levels. While he won’t completely rule out his entertainment authority hosting social media celebrity bouts for fans, he has no interest in financing YouTuber exhibition matches.

Alalshikh elaborated that his passion is seeing the world’s best professional fighters compete. The boxers he named as personal favorites, Larry Holmes and Roberto Duran, demonstrate the caliber of talent Alalshikh wants to host in Saudi Arabia.

By refusing to divert resources to YouTuber fights, he can stay laser-focused on continuing to schedule elite matchups. Top athletes like Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua can expect lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia to keep fighting there.
